Vershire Community Library
Fundraisers

The library is powered totally by volunteer staff.  No public money is spent on maintaining the library.  It relies on fundraising events to cover its minimal costs, including a share of operating the Church-Orr House, and volunteer staff to keep it open.  The three events which occur most years are: The B B & Flea (Book Sale, Bake Sale and Flea Market) which has been held on the second Saturday in June since 2002 - before the library opened; the fall book sale held on the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend in conjunction with VerShare's Fall Festival, and occasional special dinners.  All the funds go directly to support the library's activities, either for buying books or supporting the library's share of keeping the Church-Orr House open.

Seventh Annual Book, Bake, & Plant Sale - June 14, 2008

A sunny day, hundreds and hundreds of books, a table almost overloaded with baked goods and a huge selection of plants - that was the scene on the lawn of Church-Orr House.  It was a huge success with lots of opportunity for neighbors to visit and close to $900 was raised for the library.  Many thanks to book donors, bakers, plant donors, the excellent pre-sale sorting crew, table and book movers, tent installers and on-the-day attendants.
