Week One- July 14-18 - MORNINGS
Projects with Plants - Heather Shelton/Kimberley Hotelling
Hands on activities using flowers and herbs. We will identify and gather
plants in the wild and use them for a variety of crafts. Ages 7 and up.

Babysitting Certification Class - Martha Daum
Sharpen up your baby-sitting skills. Sessions will include basic first
aid, fire safety, child development, healthy eating, and age-appropriate
activities. Each participant completing the course will receive a
certificate. Ages 9 – 13 Max. enrollment 6
Journalism - John Roy
Conduct interviews, take digital photographs, write stories, and work on
computers to produce a 4-page newsletter describing the people and
activities of our camp. Ages 10 and up. Max. enrollment 4
Intergenerational Writer’s Workshop - Ruth Hooke
Develop your creative writing talents. Ruth will offer a topic and a
little time for you to craft your words into a written response. This
workshop invites adults and teens to join campers in writing about
favorite pets, friends, trips, hobbies, etc. The writings will be
compiled to make a book at the end of the week Ages 9 and up. Max
enrollment 4.
Outdoor Survival Skills - Andrew Hov
Ever wonder how people lived and camped outdoors before the age of
plastic? We’ll use natural materials to build shelters and other tools.
We’ll collect wild edibles, try to catch a fish, and learn how to build
a fire. Ages 7 and up. Max enrollment 6
Exploring Ponds and Streams - Pam Aman
How many different types of water can we splash around in? Join Pam, a
certified lifeguard, on field trips to local wetlands, ponds, lakes, and
streams. Ages 7 and up. Max enrollment 6
Week One- July 14-18 - AFTERNOONS
Wool Felting - Laurie Barr
In this workshop campers will learn how to take raw wool from sheep
found on local farms, card the wool and learn the process of felting to
turn a mass of wet animal fibers into a felted ball, bead, finger
puppet, small purse or vessel, etc. We will also experiment dying wool
with “Kool-Aid” to add colorful elements to our various projects. Ages 7
and up. Max enrollment 6.
Scrapbooking - Leslie Berger
In this activity we will organize our photos and souvenirs, lay out
pages, and add embellishments, to create a fun and decorative handmade
book. Ages 8 and up. Maximum enrollment 6.
Walk the Watershed - Elicia Whittlesey
We'll walk, wade and paddle parts of the Ompompanoosuc River watershed
from the river's source to the Connecticut River. We'll consider the
idea of a watershed, and what happens to the water used by people. How
has the river shaped this place? Ages 7 and up. Max enrollment 6.
Tennis and Swimming - Deb Barnes
We will take daily trips to Treasure Island, learn to play tennis and
then play and swim in the water. Ages 7 and up. Max. Enrollment 6
Adventure Games - Torsti Rovainen
This rugged group of campers will find themselves running through the
woods and fields playing action games such as “Camouflage”, “Sharks and
Minnows”, and “Capture the Flags”. Ages 7 and up.

Week Two- July 21-25 - MORNINGS
Hiking - Melissa Mahoney
Campers in this workshop are interested in getting some great exercise
in the great outdoors. Our goal will simply be to travel at a steady
pace and enjoy the surrounding environs. Take a hike!
Ages 7 and up. Max. enrollment 6
Round Wood Tables - Pat Barnes
Using trees that we cut ourselves, we will construct tables with mortise
and tenon joinery. No previous experience necessary. Ages 8 and up. Max
enrollment 5

Life Beyond the Eye - Richard Jayne
Be an aquatic ecologist. Visit streams, ponds, and wetlands, collect
samples and put them under the microscope to identify and classify the
smallest wildlife in our waterways. Ages 9 and up.

Basketry and Weaving - Laurie Barr
Each camper will weave a round reed basket using natural and dyed reed.
In addition, children will explore weaving on a back-strap loom, and a
tapestry loom. Ages 8 and up. Max enrollment 6
Exploring Vershire and Beyond - Lynn Roy
We’ll take field trips in and around Vershire. We’ll harvest food from
the camp gardens, visit the Post Mills glider airport, go for a hike,
pick berries, tour Crossroad Farms, ride a horse. Ages 7-9. Max
enrollment 6
Week Two- July 21-25 - AFTERNOONS
Swimming Holes - Andy Wasserman
Explore Union Village Dam, inner tube down the White River, or visit Old
City Falls and Treasure Island. All campers need to be at least an
advanced beginner in swimming level. For fast water, life jackets are
required. The camp will provide them if you can’t bring your own. We
will have a joyful gang for enthusiastic and friendly fun in the water.
Ages 7 and up. Max enrollment 6
Wooden Boats - Pat Barnes
Build a model wooden boat from prepared parts to enjoy for a lifetime!
Campers can build a small-scale replica of a flat-bottomed 19th century
fishing boat, a raft, or a paddleboat, or any combination thereof, time
permitting. Campers will sand their parts and assemble their boats as
they proceed through the week. Our goal will be for boat builders to
have a chance to float their completed boats at a local body of water at
the end of the week. Ages 7 and up. Max. enrollment 6
Needle Felting - Jen Nelson
Using colored wool fiber and a specially made needle, we will create 3
dimensional felted animals of the campers’ choice. Ages 8 and up. Max
enrollment 6
Wilderness & Climbing - Amanda Brief
We will rock climb, learn about ecosystems and water, and appreciate the
outdoors. Themes include outdoor games, teamwork and building trust,
compass skills, wilderness survival and safety, shelters, Leave No
Trace, and other outdoor skills. Campers must energetic and excited to
become outdoor explorers. Ages 8 and up. Max. enrollment 6.
