| VerShare Community Camp
Information / Registration
REGISTRATION FORMS: May be
downloaded here.
STAFFING: We thank the many
volunteers from near and far who make this camp possible. Volunteer
instructors and environmental educators lead the workshops. A teenage
community member and an international counselor assist these
instructors. Teen counselor
applications (ages 16 and up) can be
downloaded or obtained
from Kathy Young at 333-4383. Young people ages 13-15, who are
interested in being counselors in training, should contact Bonna Wieler
333-3549.
COSTS: The camp is free to all
children from Vershire and surrounding towns. We rely on donations,
grants, and the help of many volunteers to make camp run. Tax deductible
donations to the VerShare Children’s Activity Fund are gladly accepted,
especially from families who have the means to contribute, have not
participated in a VerShare fundraiser, or live out of town.
AGE GUIDELINES: The
registration
forms indicate for what ages each program is designed. These
guidelines are flexible. It is a long and active camp day: parents of
the youngest campers are urged to consider the half day option.
REGISTRATION:
The registration cut off date of April 28 has passed. However,
you can
download and
fill out
registration forms (one form per child) and mail it to Deb Barnes at
the address below and if space is available your child will be placed in
the camp or on the waiting list. Your child may sign up for any
combination of the sessions regardless of the camp. Make sure you list
several different choices for each session, and there is no guarantee
that, even if accepted into the camp, your child will get the activity
of his/her choice. Confirmation letters will
be sent by the end of May. Children on the waitlist may be enrolled into
the camp during the process of confirmation in May and June.
DAILY SCHEDULE: Morning sessions
run from 8:30-12, afternoon sessions from 12:30-3:30.
ATTENDANCE: It is very important
that your child be able to attend all 5 days of each program he/she
registers for. Each program follows a set schedule that relies on each
child being there each day. Your child may not be able to complete
his/her project(s) if s/he misses a day and it is not fair to others if
your child takes the place of another who would have been able to attend
the full session.
ILLNESS: If your child must miss
a day because of illness, we ask that you notify camp director, Kathy
Hooke as soon as possible in the evening or first thing in the morning.
If your child becomes ill or injured while at camp, we will notify you
and ask you to come to pick your child up. You must be available-or
designate someone else who will be available-to pick your child up. In
the case of a medical emergency we will rely on the services of the
trained EMTs on our staff and Vershire Fire and Rescue and Upper Valley
Ambulance.
TRANSPORTATION: We strongly
encourage car-pooling. Please let us know on the registration form if
your child(ren) will need transportation and we will try to help you
find a ride. Transportation for field trips during the camp will be in a
camp van driven by camp staff, by vans owned by the Mountain School and
driven by Mountain School staff, or by camp staff or parents in private
vehicles. Children under 8 years old or 80 pounds must have a booster
seat for them to be able to leave camp in any of the aforementioned
vehicles.
HELPERS: This camp runs on the
energy of volunteers. We always welcome donations of food and or time.
Any financial donations are tax-deductible. Please join in the spirit of
co-operation that makes VerShare Community Camp work, and remember to
let us know how you will help us this year at camp on the registration
form.
