Full-day/Overnight Camping Trips

Week 1- July 14-18

Hills, Rivers, and Farms- Craig Panzer, Bonna Wieler
Day trips hiking on the Cross Rivendell Trail, paddling kayaks on the Connecticut River (with the possibility of an overnight at a primitive campsite). Visit an organic farm along the way. Learn about our interrelationship with our land/waters. Ages 9-13

By Land and By Water- Caroline Ballou
This week will begin learning basic camping, hiking and wilderness first aid skills. A light hike may follow. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent on a two-day kayak ride down the Connecticut River. We will paddle on the portion of the river below Wilder Dam, and spend the night at the Life Campsite in Windsor. Returning Wednesday afternoon, we will transfer belongings from dry bags to hiking backpacks. On Thursday, we will depart for a two-day hike and return to camp Friday afternoon. This is a good choice for campers who would like to be counselors someday, since we’ll be working on leadership skills throughout the week.
Ages 10-13

Backpacking the Long Trail – Amanda Brief
After a day of rock climbing, we will backpack the rest of the week on the Long Trail, in the Green Mountains, an adventure you won't want to miss! Learn all about setting up camp, outdoor survival and safety, fire-building, outdoor cooking, what to do if lost, stuck, or in trouble, and appreciating our environment. We’ll have plenty of time for fun as well...s'mores, ghost stories, games, night adventures, and practicing all the awesome new skills we will learn. You will experience what it really means to trust and depend on one another, appreciate the wilderness, and have fun!  Ages 10-13.

Week 2- July 21-25

Outdoor Survival Skills- Andrew Hov
Learn through hands on practice the basics of building primitive shelters and tools and finding and preparing wild edible plants. Ages 9-13.

Pillsbury Park Paddling & Hiking- Elicia Whittlesley
We’ll focus on leadership skills this week, as we go on a series of adventures at NH Pillsbury State Park. After setting up base camp, we will go on dayhikes, and kayak trips. We may spend the last night on the trail, on an overnight backpacking trip. In the evenings, we will stargaze and learn the summer constellations. Throughout the week we will learn how the landscape has changed over the years. Camping, paddling, and outdoor skills will be taught. Ages 11-13.

Acadia Adventure- Caroline Ballou
Spend a week camping at picturesque Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, ME! We plan to hike Double Bubble Mountain, kayak along the inlets of the Maine coast, possibly bike along the scenic coast, or rock climb at the legendary Otter Cliffs. We will be the first to see the sunrise in North America on Thursday, July 24th from the top of Cadillac Mountain.
Ages 10-13.

We are looking for parents to help chaperone our overnight trips. Please make a note on the registration form if interested.
