Vershire
Volunteer Fire and Rescue, the Vershire Historical Society, VerShare, the Town Selectboard and many citizens, organized by coordinator Andrea Herrington,
all combined to produce a glorious Vershire Day on July 2.
With perfect weather, there were events going all day.
It started with a library activity for kids to decorate their
bicycles for the parade later in the day. The town's new bake
oven was being fired up to be ready to sell pizza for lunch.
The Historical Society had a bake and soda sale, and opened their
wing in the Town Center with fascinating exhibits. The Fire
and Rescue team were firing up their huge charcoal grill and
organizing the salads pies and other fixings early in the morning
getting ready for the 3 o'clock chicken bar-b-cue dinner.
VerShare held a silent auction to raise funds to
support the 2011 summer camp. There were games for kids, a flower arranging contest,
and strawberry shortcake was available at the Church-Orr House.
A great snack to eat while viewing the parade which began at 2:00.
There was also a quilt raffle to benefit the Vershire Community
LIbrary.
Later in the day, the
Panhandlers,
Vermont's largest steel band entertained with a great set and they
were followed by the band Nancy's Problem, which entertained right up to the
sensational fireworks which were presented by Fire and rescue.
A great day!
